The 6 instrumental pieces explore the moods suggested by the D Dorian and F Lydian modes. Enjoy this gallery of jazz, ambient, minimalist music and a bit of renaissance mood! The cover art is a great shoot by talented photographer Annie Spratt.

Fanfare for a Jester: It’s a renaissance inspired piece where a trumpet fanfare introduces a recorder playing jester, above an accompaniment of lute and percussions. The trumpet fanfares and the melodies played by the recorder are based on the Dorian mode, a suggestive scale that may recall a dignified medieval court.
Clouds on the Road: It’s a minimalist piece for piano and strings inspired by a trip on a road under fast moving clouds. The melody is in Dorian mode, a versatile scale I used also in Fanfare for a Jester. I find it serious but less melancholic than minor mode.
Door to Elsewhere: It’s a jazz piece for tenor sax, with a backing trio of drums, double bass and Rhodes piano. There was a time when the rediscover of old scales and modes seems to free jazz music once more and open doors for new musical places… The melody and the short improvised part are both in Dorian mode. Featured on TRUST The DOC blog #41: "a saxophone-dominated piece of jazz mixing it with an aura of Drum’n’Bass"
Gentle Rain: It’s a gentle ballad for clarinet, flute and bassoon with a backing of strings, synths and percussions. This is my 4th and last exploration of the Dorian scale. The mood is soft, relaxed and a little ambiguous, just like when a gentle rain soften all the sounds outside…
Liaisons Dangereuses: It’s a soft waltz ballad for strings and piano with drums and double bass. The central section is a swing piano improvisation. It’s the tale of a strange attraction between musical genres. This is my first exploration of the Lydian scale. The mood is positive and forward looking, and I hope you’ll find some peace and a smile in it. Featured in Piano Day 2020
Summer Sky: It’s an ambient track inspired by the stillness of the summer sky. Piano, guitar and a music box contribute to the atmosphere. The melodies are based on the Lydian scale and its overwordly serene mood.
Summer Sky (Letters From Mouse Remix): a wonderful remix by Letters from Mouse made using found sound percussions.
